THE THINGS PAST is independently founded and creatively directed in Athens.
Free from external direction, we develop each project according to our own pace and principles, favouring long-term thinking over constant expansion.
A POINT OF DEPARTURE
The name is inspired by Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past and the famous madeleine episode, where a simple sensory experience gives rise to an unexpected chain of associations.
This relationship between sensation and recollection remains a point of departure for the house.
STARTING POINTS
Every creation begins with a situation, a relationship, an observation or a moment of change.
These initial ideas are translated into scent through research, writing and composition, resulting in fragrances that remain open to interpretation.
RAW MATERIALS
We work with both natural raw materials and contemporary aroma molecules, selected for their character, performance and contribution to the overall architecture of a composition.
Naturals bring texture and evolution. Modern materials provide structure, diffusion and longevity.
PACKAGING MATERIALS & DESIGN
Packaging is part of the composition. Developed around the principle of reduction, our packaging uses fewer materials and less plastic while preserving the tactile qualities of the object.
Texture, structure and materiality take precedence over excess. Every element serves a purpose, balancing protection, longevity and sensory experience.
